Hong Kong and Ireland have signed an agreement on the automatic exchange of tax information (AEOI), with the first exchanges expected to take place in 2018.
A spokesperson for the Hong Kong Government said that it has been seeking to expand Hong Kong's AEOI network. Hong Kong now has 12 AEOI partners, including Ireland.
The spokesperson added: "The Government also plans to extend the application of the OECD's Multilateral Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters to Hong Kong. An amendment bill will be introduced into the Legislative Council in late 2017. This will help further expand our AEOI network."
